Berhampuri patta saree, also known as Brahmapuri Patta saree. It’s great to know that this unique silk work has been recognized and registered under the Geographical Indications (GI) of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act by the Government of India.

The mention of the zari work border design being different from others and the sarees being exported to southeast Asian and other countries through the Gopalpur port adds to the rich history of this textile tradition. It’s also interesting to know that the sarees adorn the deities of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra at the Jagannath temple in Puri.

Overall, the Berhampuri silk saree is a significant cultural heritage of Odisha and adds to the country’s diversity and richness.
