Habaspuri Saree is a cotton-based traditional handloom textile of Odisha, India. It is renowned for its uniqueness in weaving, design, and production. The Bhulia weavers of Chicheguda, Kalahandi district, Odisha are attributed for weaving the Habaspuri fabric. With traditional patterns of the region like kumbha (temple), fish, and flowers, Habaspuri handloom is named after the village of Habaspur in Kalahandi district where it was originally woven during 19 CE. Today, the Habaspuri Saree has been identified as one of the 14 Geographical Indications of Odisha.
The Habaspuri handloom saree slowly lost its charm with the decline of the dynasty after the 19th century. But thanks to master weaver Ugrasen Meher in Chicheguda, the Habaspuri Silk Saree was revived and has won hearts since then.
