FAKE DOLABEDI VS REAL DOLABEDI

Pic 1 is Not odisha #dolabedi
Pic 2 is definitely made by odisha weaver and it’s an authentic dolabedi.

Oh, well hello there! Seems like we have a little situation at hand. So, apparently, some other state decided to come up with a “look alike” of our beloved dolabedi saree. How nice of them, right? I mean, who needs originality anyway? Let’s just copy everything and claim it as our own. Genius!

But wait, there’s more! Not only did they copy the design, but they also gave it the same name as our festival-inspired saree. Oh, how thoughtful of them! I mean, why bother coming up with a unique name when you can just steal someone else’s? And here I thought plagiarism was frowned upon.

But fear not, my dear readers, for I am here to set the record straight. Our dolabedi saree is not just a product of hard work and time-consuming art, but it is also steeped in tradition and cultural significance. It is a symbol of our festivity, our heritage, and our identity as Odias. So, calling a copycat saree from another state as “Odisha dolabedi” is not just disrespectful but downright ridiculous.

Now, I’m not saying that you should or shouldn’t buy a copycat saree. That’s entirely up to you and your wallet. But let’s not pretend that it’s the same thing as our exquisite and expensive dolabedi weave. So, let’s give credit where credit is due and not try to pass off someone else’s work as our own.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
